so how much is it get figures graded? Depends on the size of the figure and how fast you want it back.

The only value I see in doing this is if you were going to hold onto the figure for 20 or 30 or more years and then wow collectors when you go to sell it and impress them that the package is still in great condition. But I don't see why anyone would be more impressed that somebody graded it compared to another one on ebay 30 years from now that looks just as good without the grading. I would assume this costs a lot more than it would cost to buy your own clear plastic box to put the figure in. I can guarantee you that a graded one will look a lot better then one not graded 30 years from now. But consider this. My cousin is NOT planning on reselling ANY of the figures it's for personal reasons since he plans to keep these figures forever. So if you plan on never getting rid of them then it's ideal for him to get them graded because years from now they'll still be in the pristine condition they are today since they are in high quality acrylic cases not plastic boxes. It's not for any money purposes whatsoever but for the memories Dragonball brings and wanting to preserve that

I understand wanting to keep the figures in the boxes, but that's a whole new level of collector. I collect because I enjoy dragon ball for the memories it brings, not for the monetary value of the collectables. But to each their own! And they do look pretty cool in those plastic boxes! Me and my cousin collect for the exact same reason, the memories it brings. And that's why we like to grade our figures to preserve them, NOT monetary value purposes. And yes they do look really nice in high quality acrylic cases. In the pictures the cases are actually in polybags so it looks way better when you take that off.

Anybody not seeing the value in having this done , obviously doesn't have much experience in the figure world when it comes to lines outside of DB. AFA grading makes a MASSIVE price difference once you start getting a few years down the road. 80's and 90's AFA graded figures from lines like ghostbusters, transformers and MOTU will sell for a hundred to THOUSANDS more than an Un-graded counterpart that appears to be in roughly the same condition. Some people have serious OCD about box condition and these are the toys for them. It's definitely not for every one but for those out there seeking the best of the best, this is the way to go. Darthbardock you and your cousins figures look great. I think my first AFA run is going to be one of my GMB's and a few Figuarts. The GMB I want to send out is impeccable , I'm hoping for really high scores.

This is very cool to see for the novelty of it.
I personally collect for hobby and showcasing, i like to mess about with my figures. i don't care about resell, so i don't keep figures MIB.

Oh no they're in museum-like acrylic sealed cases. When AFA ships figures back to you they send the cases in clear plastic polybags which is probably the reason for the confusion? You just have to see them in person to see the professional work they do on them.

Damn those graded figures look badass! Definitely a good investment imo, for personal or monetary reasons. How well do you think those cases could protect figures from smoke or other odors and moisture?

Lol @ branjita..... Where on earth did you find that picture ? Who in their right mind would do that? If there is a shower in that bathroom those figures are sooo fck'd. The bubbles will be dropping off the cards like lemmings off a cliff after a couple steamy showers. Plus there's the issue of wafting, airborne poop particles.... I don't want poop particles anywhere near my figures
