Wait, you're trying to convince us to buy this line, but you couldn't convince yourself? You say that you didn't buy the Vegeta because the face mold looks off. Doesn't bode well. And right off the bat, I can tell that that Goku in the pic looks janky as heck. Frankly, these are aimed towards kids— not collectors. I'm sorry, but you can't just label something "made for kids" simply because it doesn't look quite as good as the most popular Japanese imports. The sculpts in the Dragon Stars line may not be on par with the S.H. Figuarts line, but I'd much rather pay the $40.00 for a lesser sculpt than $60-70 as the figures are still very articulated and represent the characters well enough. Like I said, to each their own. For you, the difference in price is greater so it may make a little more sense. But here in the States, you can get the Figuarts for around $40. Which is a $20 difference. I mean, what's $20? You may have to eat a couple of tuna sandwiches instead of fast food. And then you have the superior product. Forever. And I make some pretty good tuna sandwiches...just saying. Figuarts are superior in every way. They are in the cutting edge regarding articulation, come with more accessories, better molds/likeness. But if you're happy with the DS line, then by all means, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. And I'm not in the business of buying things that I don't want just to support a company or line. Bandai's business models are greedy as heck and made to milk consumers without shame. And they don't pay the bills around here.

Eh, for me, the Figure-Rise Standard models fill the "cheaper alternative to Figuarts" role better, but then again I am a Gundam fan who builds a ton of models anyways

Superior in every way except recycling pieces from previous figures right? Only jakks wwe beats them there. You don't have to like these figures. We do. Take your figuarts elitism to the shf board "I'm feeling insecure now. I need a time out in my safe space." I thought we could discuss the merits of each line in a logical and pragmatic way without fear of triggering each other, but that is beyond some people, I guess. I was merely pointing out technicalities objectively and logically. "Figuarts elitism" ... don't be ridiculous.

Oh lawd.
The fast food analogy was just an example to point out that the difference in price was negligible. And in the case that you're cash strapped, it would only require minimal changes. (IE refraining from eating fast food two times would equal the same difference in price between the DS and their SH Figuart counterparts)
But people are so friggin insecure, with such delicate egos, you can't say anything without triggering someone somehow.
And the comparison is figures vs. figures. Not figures vs. statues. I also collect statues and they serve their own purpose, but figures are for articulation and dynamic posing. And when it comes to figures, SH Figuarts are the 'pinnacle' AND the price difference is such that it's the best all around choice (see what I did there, I didn't use the "s" word" because it might trigger someone)
And FYI, I don't live with my parents, but nice try. I'm out though. I'm not wasting another ounce of energy on this nonsense.

You can **** right off. I said multiple times that I respect your choice 100%, and to each their own, and "don't let anyone tell you otherwise if you're into the DS line" Lol
And youre still going on about the fast food thing EVEN after i explained that I only used it as an example. But somehow you took it personally. EVEN after I said it was an example. Dude, I'm just gong to leave because I just don't argue with low-IQ individuals.

How about you both just stop? One of you may have been the more mature throughout this, but you've both said dumb things throughout this conversation. And while I personally fully agree that the S.H. Figuarts line is superior to the Dragon Stars one, shipping an S.H. Figuart to Canada (because U.S. costs mean nothing to me as that isn't what I have to pay) costs at least $100 while driving to Wal-Mart for a Dragon Star would only cost me $40; the slight (which is the exact word I'd use to describe it) increase in articulation and sculpting isn't worth the extra $60.
And if we really do want to get into a discussion about which figures are the best, the Real Action Heroes line would've been perfect if it wasn't for the rubber on the figures being prone to drying out.

poposbrother ikkiphoenix cut out the arguing or I'll have to give y'all a week time out from DBF. Figuarts are better because they are twice the price. Comparing the two is like comparing the taste of bottled water to tap water or (in keeping with the fast food metaphor) a sit-down-restaurant to McDonalds. With that said, I prefer Irwin and Jakks figures over both Figuarts and Dragon Stars. We all have our preferences. And that's ok. And you guys should try to get along, why? Because we're all Dragonball fans here. Make enemies out of Naruto fans or something else. We're supposed to all be on the same team here.

Thesupernamekian, I apologize for derailing your thread. I will delete my posts that add nothing of value and I'll keep future discussion to the topic at hand.
And ikki, I know we have had our differences here but in the future I hope that we can discuss figures without this incident being a factor. Bran is right. We are all on the same team, the dbf team.

I'll say it again, it's so foolish to crap on this line because it isn't figuarts. DS and Figuarts aren't meant to be compared, these aren't supposed to be replacements for the figuarts line. It's a different line and a cheaper alternative.

Why is this always such a topic for argument lol. I remember I got some people mad because I was hoping for a product like this with a cheaper price point like Marvel Legends and saying the Figuarts are too expensive. TMNT, DC, Marvel, Star Wars, and more all have several lines of figures in different sizes and price points but DBZ has to be astronomically expensive and imported from Japan to be worth buying.... Why?
I like Figuarts figures but they aren't perfect either, so either I can spend $20 on something less than perfect or spend $100 on something that's less than perfect..... decisions decisions.
Buy what you want and can justify paying for, but why the hate over which plastic people I like more than the plastic people you like more. We are all right in our opinions.

I just wished the proportions on the characters were better if nothing else. The Vegeta figure has such long arms and legs, not the mention the neck. But those Gamestop exclusive Super Saiyan Albino ones are seriously tempting me. I'd kind of love to own those I think.

I think the fact that their are 3 styles of figures in what seems to be 6" scale is a mistake. I have yet to purchase a Figuarts, DS, or FiugRise model but they all seem to be in the 6 or 7 inch scale or their is the 3 or 4 inch options I have seen like Shodo and the Karate Fighter rip offs I can't remember the names of off the top of my head. But there doesn't seem to be any 5 or 5.5 options available. Since the 3 lines of 6" scale figures I mentioned all seem to feature lots of articulation why not a slightly smaller kid friendlier option?
I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old that both love DBZ already. My 4 year old sings the theme song in Japanese for God's sake and I flunked Japanese in Highschool. There's a market for kids to get back into or introduced to DBZ. I got my 4 year old a ton of DBZ stuff and a DBZ back pack to put it all in and all the figures are the same figures I had available to me when the show kicked off on Cartoon Network back in the 90's. How is it that the only toys suitable for a kid or that are even affordable are still collectibles from over 20 years ago. I know it's been said before but their needs to be a 5" scale line of DBZ figures at a kid friendly price point $12 - $15.
I rant because I hope these kinds of sites get visited by toy execs.
MY 4 YEAR OLD SINGS IN JAPANESE CAUSE HE LOVES DBZ!!!

I honestly feel that it's a way for them to show off how much money they have (same as those who call Hot Toys the best action figures available and calling everything else "cheap" or "looking like bootlegs.") I may be wrong, but a lot of people I see on the internet who buy expensive things seem to borderline shame those who don't.
