Anybody have time to do some comparison shopping and find out the cheapest places to preorder Figuarts Nappa, Vegeta, Yamcha, and Shenron? I would prefer an online store that isn't in yen. I used to have time to do this sort of thing myself, but I'm never home anymore.

I always use Anime Island. They're slower at shipping, but I'm not really in a hurry since I don't even have the room to display the figures at the moment. Their figures are usually a couple of dollars cheaper than the normal price, and on top of that they have free shipping, frequent sales like during holidays where you can use a code to get 10-15% off, and you earn rewards money which goes toward your next purchase. You do have to pay upfront though, either 20% down or the full price.
I bought Shenron and Yamcha during the 4th of July sale for $131. Would have been $160+ at BBTS and elsewhere.

Coincidentally, I just ordered on Anime Island! www.anime-island.com has a sale going on until July 9. I pre-ordered my Figuarts Vegeta, Nappa, Shenron, and Yamcha from there. The price without the code was $282.96. JULY15 saved me $42.45, making my total only $240.51!!!! That's like getting Vegeta for only $10 and paying full price for the others! If you want an individual breakdown, thanks to spending $150+ and using JULY15, I am getting... Shenron for $80.74 and free shipping Nappa for $61.19 and free shipping Vegeta for $45.04 and free shipping Yamcha for $53.54 and free shipping

I'll never give a cent to Anime Island ever again and would caution anyone from ordering from them, as it's a gamble whether or not you'll even receive your product.
I've placed multiple orders with them in the past. One was a multi-shipment and their old policy was to wait until all items would arrive before they send your entire order. Got it, no problem there. Except when they did send my order and it was missing items. I had to bug them to send the rest which they eventually did, and they even had the stock all along. They simply forgot and if I didn't bring it up they would have my merchandise and money.
Another pre-order they just never sent. I was on a deployment(military) and they just never sent the items. I figure I would wait until I got back to deal with it and when I did they had the items and told me they would send them out. Months after they claimed to have received the stock.
Third and final instance was an order I placed for an item that was labeled as in stock. Put in the order, waited 2-3 weeks, no tracking number or anything verifying my order was proceeding. I e-mailed them and was told there was no problem, they'd send my order out in the next few days. No response a week later and after e-mailing them they admitted that the item was out of stock and asked if I wanted a refund or credit. I asked for a refund and gave them my paypal address as requested. Weeks went by but no refund was issued. I bugged them again and was told that they could not refund to paypal and asked for another method. After more delay on their part and backtracking, they finally did refund me on paypal.
I ended up e-mailing them after and telling them that their customer service was terrible and I wouldn't be shopping with them again. Their response? None at all. They don't even care enough to try and keep customers that dumped $400-500 into their company and considering how much merch I buy, would've been thousands more if they'd just done the bare minimum of their job. If I hadn't bugged THEM on each of my three orders, they would have my money right now and the customer nothing. The real sucker is myself for even giving them a second chance.

I've had issues with pre-orders with every place I have ordered things from. The worst of which, have always been when I pre-ordered something in, for example, 2016 and the figure didn't come out until February 2017. The companies would ALWAYS forget about it, because they already did all their bookkeeping and tax calculations in 2016 and were on to a new year (that's my assumption at least).
Those experiences you've had are really disappointing though... hopefully things go well for me. If not, I will be sure to post about it.

Wow, sorry to hear you had problems with them. How long ago were those orders? I've never had any issues, but I've only ordered from them the past couple of years.

As recent as a few months ago. I could be the most unlucky customer of theirs but I have a feeling if it were honest errors/mistakes then I would've been afforded at least an apology. It says miles about your customer service when you don't own up to mistakes and flat out ignore someone when they make a complaint about your company. Trust me, I'm not a entitled/unreasonable consumer, I gave them three chances and it honestly blew my mind how it was handled.

Well, Anime Island is still in business, so they at least have that going for them! Sadly, two out of the four places I have ordered Figuarts figures from are no longer in business, or at least, their websites don't work. I'm glad I wasn't waiting on them to send me anything I pre-ordered!!

I'm glad I wasn't waiting on them to send me anything I pre-ordered!! Of course. Just felt I should warn of my experiences since I've ordered from a TON of places and that was the only one I've had problems with. The most I've had happen at other sites was something not come in stock or come in stock months later than expected. I almost exclusively order my figuarts from BBTS but I started shifting to Amazon because BBTS' shipping charges/length kind of bug me.

Honestly, I just wait until a few Japanese sellers I have bookmarked get them in and buy from them. If you catch them when they first put it up you get a good deal and don't have to put up with any preorder bs. Besides every time I tried to preorder something I end up getting it way later then everyone else.

Very true points by both of you.
On a slightly related yet unrelated note, I'm having a small bit of trouble finding a Scultures Broly from a seller that is definitely selling a legit one on ebay, for a good price. All the lower priced ones on ebay right now are Hong Kong and China sellers. I might just have to wait until they start showing up on Amazon for a reasonable price. I'd love to get one for around $28 with free shipping.

In the same boat for the broly, just waiting it out. otakumode.com/shop/589ab412b213a7004430086f/Dragon-Ball-Z-SCultures-Big-Figure-Colosseum-7-Vol-3-Broly Is pretty much the cheapest I've seen it but you need to spend $150 to get that free shipping. Most of everything I want right now isn't coming out till 2018.
