I collect only the anime versions. I hate the manga colors, the anime ones are so much more vibrant and look better. The SDCC is tailored to America and Americans favor the anime over the manga so that's why they've been doing anime repaints. The demand for Vegeta and SSJ3 Goku is also there but Tamashii doesn't seem to care. Demand means nothing to Tamashii as they've proven time and time again. Cuz EVERYONE demanded Arlian Vegeta...

The only SDCC I really want is Piccolo. I'd love to have all of them, but I'm not going to spend the crazy amount for any.
Really hoping for SS3 Goku. I badly need a version of that figure.

SDCC Piccolo is leaps and bounds over Manga Piccolo. He's not going for toooo much now, if you want him, better get him now. I feel he's gonna inflate pretty soon. You could always get Manga Piccolo and repaint him. Wouldn't require too much work really, if you're down to make a custom that is

The demand for Vegeta and SSJ3 Goku is also there but Tamashii doesn't seem to care. Demand means nothing to Tamashii as they've proven time and time again. Cuz EVERYONE demanded Arlian Vegeta... I do think they look great! But I just don't need a repeated figure with different coloring. They're also difficult to find, so there just isn't a point in collecting those in particular. I have a Goku that I got for $30, I don't need one for $500. It seems like it's kind of a double edged sword for them. If they don't do vague or ballsy releases people get frustrated because they aren't willing to take more risks. (like Arlian Vegeta, Broly, and to a certain extend, Android 16, who I didn't personally expect a Figuarts figure anytime soon. Also, I know Broly seems like a no-brainer. I'm mainly referring to his size and their concern over him selling well since he's a large figure and they had to charge more.) When they DO them, people seem to be frustrated with the vagueness of the release, or wonder why they aren't prioritizing other characters before them. Kind of damned if they do, damned if they don't. But they are a business, and I do think they care about their consumer. They seem to be beginning a pattern of doing re-releases during the summer. Last year they re-issued Piccolo, and this year Gohan, with SS Goku sprinkled all in-between. Next summer could possibly be SS Vegeta, and the year after SSJ3 Goku. (if they're following the release order of figures for re-issues.) The DBZ line is also doing well enough that it's growing, and they care enough to be making it grow. They seem to have a deal going with B&N, and They've upped their line from 2 figures a year in 2010 to 5 in 2015, not including SDCC's and reissues. I think they're just using business tactics. What would happen if they gave you all of the figures you wanted all at once? Well, after you got those, you would lose interest in the line. They're being strategic with their releases. There's a huge demand for SS Vegeta, so why not string us along for a while? It keeps us attentive, and makes us stay up to date. This then means that we watch for more figures, and buy more. Plus, It took them 5 years to reissue Piccolo and Gohan. Why not make us wait just as long for Vegeta? I bet they even know that people who bought Detong models would still buy the figuarts model, just because of the collector status. It just takes patience. It wouldn't make business sense not to re-issue him or SSJ3 Goku. I doubt the concept of web-exclusive keeps them from re-releasing them, because it flatly means more money. Everyone's happy. Sorry, I know this was kind of a rant. I just think people should look at the releases, and even the figures not released, practically. Tamashii isn't out to anger or not care about us fans, and to do wrong by us. They want us happy. Because when we're happy, we pay. Just gotta have patience.

JJ you bring a very good point that I often forget. It makes very good sense to keep everyone on board when they still have demands for previous figures that they know are there. I think sooner or later the coveted SSJ Vegeta would get released again. Strictly talking here, but they could be saving a blockbuster figure like Vegeta for when they are looking to release some figures that may or may not have a great demand and have Vegeta be the guaranteed sale of the year for them or maybe the last figure before they transition into another time period of DBZ. I would think that if they made a Majin Vegeta or Vegeta from the Buu saga that the demand for SSJ Vegeta would start to go down as now there are other options for a Saiyan Vegeta. I have no idea how much concern Tamashi has for keeping online exclusives like Vegeta a one hit thing, or if he is simply keeping that release in his back pocket for a time when he knows he could use the sales boost.
Back on topic, I am starting to really think besides SS3 Goku, I have no idea what the SDCC figure could be? I would be stoked if it was indeed SS3 Goku as hands down my fav Goku is my SDCC version. The gi and the color on the skin is just awesome, couldn't imagine an SS3 with all that hair in the same effect! On the same note, Cell would be great too, but I wonder if the manga to anime version has enough variance to really warrant an SDCC release of cell? I am holding out on getting Cell in case I am wrong.

C'mon on y'all! Please don't post in this thread until we know for sure what the figure is. You don't know what you just did to me! Here I was brimming with excitement, thinking it got leaked early and I get big ol' bubkiss.

Why not post in this thread if it is discussion about a possible SDCC? Odds are we wont know anything for atleast another 3-4 weeks about what the SDCC is. If Im not mistaken, they normally release info about the next SDCC in the first week of June just before the SDCC stuff starts to roll out.

Coot83, I agree. There are so many variables for what they could use SS Vegeta for knowing the demand. Maybe they would have a whole year of really risky figures in their eyes, (Like maybe Tien, Yamcha, mainly non-Saiyans or non-main villains) and then to make sure they gain revenue, release SS Vegeta as the reissue. I'm personally hoping for a next summer release, but they really could do it any way possible. It would also make sense to release him a while after Majin Vegeta, since they wouldn't want the demand for Majin Vegeta to go down.
As for the web exclusive concern, I wish I knew how much they cared about it, but wouldn't that mean they could reissue any more of their other figures, since everything DBZ is technically a web exclusive? I just don't know why a company with a toy line that was initially struggling would say "Lets release these once, and then when there's an insanely high demand, ignore it and never release it again." I doubt they would limit themselves like that, and the action figures aren't really "web exclusive" anymore, with them being in comic book stores and Barnes and Nobles everywhere. I kind of just think collectors don't want it to happen so the figure doesn't devalue. :X
Haha, sorry SupremeKai! didn't mean to get your hopes up!

If I were a betting man. I'd bet the SDCC will be Pink/purple hair goku. I want to buy another Goku to do a simple God custom, but gonna wait to see what the sdcc is first.

The point is obviously proven with 6-7 weeks of downtime, we still got some time to brainstorm. Coot

For me personally, I could care less if they re-issue figures or not since I already have all of them, but for the sake of fellow collectors and the business future of the line, they SHOULD re-release eventually. If Tamashii gave us what we wanted all at once, people would lose interest in the line. It's smart business wise to release big characters with minor characters spaced in between. That's why I know they'll EVENTUALLY release the Vegeta we all want. They're not stupid, they know there is a clear demand for Vegeta. As you said, it's better for them to string us along as it keeps us waiting and hungry for more. The line is growing and what we've seen for only this year shows that. They ARE doing riskier releases and are even releasing figures at the same time and more back to back as well. This line is gonna be Kamen Rider levels soon. I hope the collectors are ready. This is the start of a Figuarts DBZ boom. As for the SDCC topic, I personally would prefer new sculpts. Most of the manga to anime repaints are done in my eyes and they're pulling at strings for repaints. They're running out of repaint options and eventually they're gonna have to retool their existing molds or just give us completely new figures. I know some people may not want that since they believe an exclusive should be something that can be skipped, but I don't want to skip a figure release if I don't have to. Give me more figures, SDCC, web exclusive, standard, I don't care.

I've always said, it would be cooler if the SDCC figures were battle damaged versions of characters.

I've always said, it would be cooler if the SDCC figures were battle damaged versions of characters. I feel that'd be the best option. They're not exactly "neccessary" so if you wanna skip, it can be skipped, but it's also a new figure as well. Best of both worlds.

I'm excited for what Tamashii has in store for us. Also agreed with them running out of material as well. There really isn't much more they can do at this point. Eddieranger, I think the battle damage idea would be awesome, and even a new figure would be cool, too Hopefully they would just produce a lot of them so the price doesn't skyrocket too badly.
